The department offers graduate programs leading to the
Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and the Doctor of Philosophy degrees.
A wide selection of course offerings is available
to graduate students in electrical engineering.
There are introductory and seminar courses
pertaining to all research areas.
Students are required and encouraged to enroll in appropriate offerings in
other departments,
such as physics,
computer science,
mathematics,
statistics,
chemical engineering,
physical chemistry,
and mechanical engineering.
The advisor and
the student,
with the concurrence of the department graduate committee, are free to use great flexibility at both the MS and
PhD levels to choose courses from any scientific field to fit a particular goal.

If you are applying for an MSEE degree in the Electrical Engineering
Graduate Program and your are currently pursuing a PhD in another graduate
program at the University of Minnesota you must take at least 12 credits of
the Electrical Engineering courses that you intend to use for the MSEE
after you have been admitted to our program.
