Synopsis

My current research deals with health monitoring and management by combining genetic information with real time physiological and environmental data, neural prosthetics for impaired subjects and to augment the cognitive abilities of normal subjects, audio separation for enhanced cell phone speech quality and critical sensor wireless networks.

Current active projects focus on wearable sensors for cardiac monitoring, body area networks, non-invasive and invasive sensing of neural activity, bioinformatics with an emphasis on gene expression data analysis, DNA copy number variation analysis and synthetic biology, cognitive radio networks with an emphasis on interference temperature limited networking, wireless networks with guaranteed performance and resilience to jamming, signal injection and interception, optimal compressed sensing strategies and audio signal separation. Other projects include infrastructure monitoring, infection control and medical device development.

In the past, I made seminal contributions to watermarking, ultrawide band communications, low-power multimedia communications, adaptive search and data acquisition strategies for World Wide Web applications, radar and dental/medical imaging, monitoring of machinery via acoustic emissions, industrial measurements, wavelet signal processing, and fractals.
