Adaptive Control

Topics: Examples and motivation. Plant parametric models. Background material on stability and optimization. On-line parameter estimation: SPR Lyapunov design approach, gradient and least-squares methods, adaptive laws with projection. Persistency of excitation. Parameter identifier and adaptive observers. Model reference adaptive control. Adaptive pole placement. Nonlinear adaptive control. Adaptive backstepping.

Prerequisite: Linear systems course or consent of instructor.
Class schedule: MWF 1:25pm - 2:15pm, Akerman Hall 211, September 5 - December 12
Grading policy: There will be no in class exams in this course. Your grade will be based on homework assignments and class project. The project presentations will be organized during the final examination week.
