Moving coil linear actuator

This animation shows the cross section of a moving coil actuator of cylindrical geometry. The flux density B is radially directed in the air gap. The solenoidally-shaped coil carries current whose direction may be reversed. Depending on the direction, the coil may be moved to the left or the right , in accordance with Faraday's BIi force rule.
