Unbalanced 3-phase sinusoidal signals

The space vector representation of an unbalanced 3-phase sinusoidal signal results in an elliptical  locus which can be decomposed into a positive- and a negative- sequence of constant amplitudes, rotating in opposite directions. In the case of single phase, both positive and negative sequences are equal in magnitude.
