Synchronous machine operating characteristics

The steady-state characteristics of a round-rotor synchronous machine are described by means of phasor diagrams. Drag the red circle E and deposit it anywhere in the complex plane, thereby establishing an operating point and showing the corresponding vector diagram. Terminal voltage is adjusted by dragging point Vs along the real axis. The machine is represented by a reactance Xs (Armature resistance is neglected in this model). The parameters are expressed in the per-unit system and motor convention is adopted.
