Synchronous machine operating characteristics
The steady-state characteristics of a round-rotor synchronous machine are
described by means of phasor diagrams. Drag the red
dot E and
deposit it anywhere in the complex plane, thereby establishing an operating
point and showing the corresponding phasor diagram and torque-angle property. The machine is represented
by a reactance X_{s} which can be changed by a slider
(Armature resistance is neglected in this model). Dragging
the black point **V**_{s }along the horizontal axis adjusts the
terminal voltage. The parameters are expressed in the per-unit system and
motor convention is adopted. Turn on/off the traces on points
I_{s }and E; to
erase, press Ctrl-F.
