The inspiration for our summer work comes from the video Powers of Ten, a 1989 Eames video exploring scale within our universe.  Our goal for the summer was threefold:

  • Learn to operate scientific equipment that is used to explore these different Powers of Ten.
  • Create useful curriculum enhancement tools to be used in high school classrooms.
  • To bring together many different resources on this website

We were able to use two different electron microscopes to capture some amazing pictures.  Some of these pictures are available via the link on the left.  Please feel free to e-mail either of us (see below) with comments and suggestions, as we hope to continually update this site.

We would also like to thank the many staff and professors for their help and suggestions this summer.  Specifically, we would like to thank Dr. Beth Stadler, Dr. Doug Ernie, Dr. Stuart McKernan, Dr. John Nelson, and Neeta Basantkumar for their generous support and encouragement.  In addition, we would like to thank the National Science Foundation for their financial support.
