Wood, Metal, Gesture, and Code: Developing a practice in New Media Art

Abstract - Ali Momeni is a new media researcher, maker and performer.  After studying physics and music as an undergraduate pre-med student, Momeni's interests in hacking, inventing, and coding led him to the world of new media art. He works with interactivity, technologically mediated social interaction, large-scale outdoor/mobile video projection, gesture to sound/image mappings, robotics and live performance. Momeni will discuss recent projects as well as opportunities for students to get involved in the in related creative art+technology activities on campus at the University of Minnesota.
