13th Non-Volatile Memory Technology Symposium (NVMTS 2013); University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, August 12 through August 14 2013

Location

NVMTS presentations will be held at the University of Minnesota in Tate Laboratory of Physics in Van Vleck Lecture Hall.

Tate Laboratory of Physics

Located on “the Mall,” Tate Laboratory of Physics houses the University of Minnesota’s School of Physics & Astronomy. Inside, it contains not only classrooms, but a physics machine shop and physics study rooms. It also has accessibility features, such as an elevator, a ramped power door entrance on the south side, and a tunnel entrance from Morrill Hall.

For more information on the Tate Laboratory of Physics, please visit this webpage.

Van Vleck Lecture Hall

The Van Vleck Lecture Hall is named after John Hasbrouck Van Vleck and his wife, Abigail. Professor John Hasbrouck Van Vleck (March 13, 1899 – October 27, 1980) was an American physicist and mathematician who joined the University of Minnesota as an assistant professor in 1923  and was co-awarded the 1977 Nobel Prize in Physics for his contributions to the understanding of the behavior of electrons in magnetic solids. His other awards include the National Medal of Science in 1966 and the Lorentz Medal in 1974.  Additionally, he participated in the Manhattan Project and developed the principles of atomic bomb design with a team of theoretical scientists.

Transportation

It is easiest to take a taxi or the Light Rail from the MSP Airport to the University, especially because everywhere you need to go around the University is within walking distance and no car is needed. However, if you choose to drive, driving directions from the MSP Airport (the blue route) to Tate Laboratory are provided on the interactive map at the bottom of this page. Please note that there is no street parking outside of Tate Laboratory, so you will need to park your car either in one of the parking garages on campus or find meter parking somewhere else on campus. The Washington Ave Parking Ramp and the Church Street Parking Ramp are the closest to Tate Laboratory.

More information on University of Minnesota parking can be found here.

Taxi
You can get a taxi to drive you right to campus from the airport, which takes around 20 minutes, but please plan for it to take 25 to 45 minutes longer if you will be travelling during rush hour (6:00am-9:00am CT & 3:00pm-6:30pm CT Monday through Friday).
